As we recover from the sheer joy of Inner Varnika, and as the dust settles (in places we didn’t know existed), it’s time to recoup our thoughts and once again look to the city as we bring you this weekend’s forecast. There’s a whole host of international and local talent on display, with highlights in the form of Club D’erange, Rose Quartz, as well as a host of Inner Varnika sideshows.

Rose Quartz @ Lake Pedder Wilderness Lodge (Tasmania)
Everything about Rose Quartz seems steeped in sophistication. From the beauty of it’s wilderness location to the handpicked line up, featuring some of Australia’s foremost producers, DJs and live acts, this intimate little festival looks set to kick up a storm over in Tasmania this weekend. If you pluck up the last minute courage to get involved you’ll surely not be disappointed.
Club D’erange w/San Soda @ The Mercat
Whilst headlining proceedings over at RQ, Belgium producer come DJ San Soda will be making an appearance Friday night for the Club D’erange gang. A digger in the finest form of the word, San mixes a unique blend of rare 90’s house, afro boogie and everything in between. Best known for his 2012 ode to Panorama Bar ‘It’s You’, San Soda’s depth of musical knowledge stretches far and wide. This is a must.
Shady Cottage @ Trentham East/Mt Macedon (Victoria)
With a stellar line up of DJs including the likes of Andras and Oscar, CC:Disco and a host of fantastic Melbourne bands, this small scale affair just a few hours from Melbourne looks set to be a weekend soother. Tickets have sold out but a few keep circulating on the event.
Inner Varnika w/Lee Gamble and Sex Tags @ The Gasometer Hotel
If you didn’t manage to catch the magic that was Sex Tags Sunday night set at IV, then don’t snooze on this. On the bill are Lee Gamble, DJ Sottofett and Fettburger, three selectors whose eclectic taste will wet just about any palette and create some lasting musical memories.

Mania w/Mic Mills (LIVE) @ Lounge
This Saturday Mania hosts Adelaide’s Mic Mills for a rare live performance. Alongside him will be label mate and Adelaide ex-resident Babicka, with local maniacs Sleep D & DJ Camov.
Piknic Elektronic w/Radio Slave @ Federation Square
Radio Slave’s influence on dance music has stretched far and wide over the years as his uniquely industrial take on house music blends elements of funk, breakbeat and a whole host of genre breaking sounds. Heading up the closing party for this years Piknic is no mean feat given the quality of acts who have gone before him but no doubt he will do it in style. If you can get a ticket (unlikely for this one) then be sure to check it out.
